A tribute to the first generation photographer I credit my dad for more than just being a great father. He taught me to enjoy life and to be thankful for what I have. He taught me to work hard when I had to and to play hard when I could. He taught me how to laugh when I get hurt and how to cry with joy. My dad loved his work. He enjoyed every minute he spent taking pictures. He was amazing to watch when he photographed his subjects. His excitement and joy for his craft is what led me to become a photographer. I will miss my father dearly, but I consider myself very fortunate to have had him in my life. I will strive for the rest of my life to live up to my dad's standards as a photographer and as a man.
Ray Bryant
I just had to share this picture with you. I recently was photographing Dr. Sloan Hildebrand, a local dentist and his parents for a magazine called Doctor of Dentistry. During the photo shoot his mother realized that I was the son of the photographer who captured the kids images each year as their family grew and matured. Mrs. Hildebrand then went to the walls of her home and pulled down some of the many photos that my dad made for her. What a great surprise it was for me to see how these wonderful people have been so blessed with beautiful memories. And that those memories were recorded by my father, EW Bryant many years ago. By the way, Dr. Hildebrand followed in his dad's footsteps too. I guess that's another reason they are endeared to me. |
